When we play, Harry likes to tell me exactly what to say and do. "How bout you see a baby kitten on your lap. With sharp claws! And disposable thumbs!!! Then say 'aw!'"
"Your head's thin and my head's fat. If you just take a mirror and look at it, thennnn you'll see." I overheard this as he was pooping: "BOOM CHACA LACA LACA BOOM CHACA LACA LACA POOP! POOP! POOP!" Out of the blue: "And also, Elle, guess what? I love you! You're the best nanny! Some nannies weren't as good as I expected.... And so I didn't much love them. They need to be more good and great than shellfish. And if they are kind of shellfish, then I don't much love them. But you are more good and great and not so shellfish." "One time in Mexico my tooth fell out and my brain told me to tell mom and dad, and I really believe my brain, so I did." "If a bad guy comes to you with a gun and asks if you want him to shoot a hole in your ear, always say 'why, no...' Don't say, 'why yes!'" In regards to Izzie's outfit: "Great match Izzie! Greatest outfit I've ever seen!" "Here you go. I made you a wine class." out of paper "That way, when you really want wine, just hold it up like this and take a sip! I'm not sure if it will work or not though... Are you so happy?!" (How did he know?! If only I could drink wine on the job...)

Can you believe it? I've been blogging for a year! Here's a quick little year in review. In January, we moved to LA! I celebrated my birthday in February. You know how I love my birthday! ;) Good thing it comes every year. We had a million lovely visitors in March. Thank you, thank you for coming to see us! (I hear Seattle's quite nice this time of year.) In April, Jon and I got to see the blood moon from the coolest spot in town, Griffith Park, which was basically in our backyard. I will never get over that adorable little apartment, I tell ya. May was rough. Jon and I moved to Seattle. It was a difficult transition (which you can read about here), although I can happily say, the city is definitely growing on me! Good friends and a sense of community can make a world of difference. My dear dear grandmother passed away in June. I miss her and think about her every day. It makes me super happy that this tribute to her was the most read post on my blog :) So many people love you Grandma! In July, I spent some time at one of my favorite places on earth, my grandparents' cabin in Island Park. August was fun. We went camping at this awesome beach (Twilight fans, you'd geek out so hard about it. Too bad I'm not one.) and took a trip to Vancouver with my family. My best friend came to visit me in September! We had such a blast. I love her. (Rachel if you're listening: come baaaaack!) And another best friend moved to Seattle, and into my house. Yay! More good friends came to visit us in October. We love you Wayne and Andy! November was chicken soup for the homesick soul. Jon and I went back to Salt Lake, and I can't even tell you how wonderful that was. Really, I don't think I could explain it if I tried. It was just exactly what I needed. December has been filled with so much fun. Jon and I are currently in Maryland, celebrating the holidays with my family. My grandpa is here too which is so so fun. It's been an amazing, difficult, challenging, love-filled year full of learning and growing. Happy New Year! Happy birthday Grandpa! Happy birthday blog! Cheers!
Lets's talk about two things: 1. I know I'm posting a Foodie Friday on a Saturday. Such is life. 2. Don't be fooled by the name of this recipe. It is not actually a pesto in the traditional sense, but it is technically a pesto (aka sauce). So, Pistachio Pesto! The easiest thing you'll ever make.
I love to use this sauce in lieu of tomato sauce on pizzas. It also makes a great dipping sauce for bread!
So blend it up, eat it up, and if you're feeling extra kind, throw some in a jar, make a pretty tag, and gift it for [insert non-religion-specific holiday here]. Because everyone loves gourmet sauce! (Right?) Hello! Let me dust the cobwebs of my keyboard real quick. I've taken a bit of a blogging break (I blame Pilates). Here's a little update on what we've been up to lately. Our good friends came to visit on their way home from Alaska. We had so much fun! It is always wonderful to have visitors. Hint hint. ^^Taking the ferry to Bainbridge Island. ^^These two cuties :) ^^Clam cup. ^^I love nighttime ferry rides. Do you blame me? Jon and I celebrated 4 years of marriage. So crazy! But oh I love him so. Fall happened. Halloween happened. Thanksgiving happened, including a trip to Utah which was hit the spot for my soul. And I am in the thick of my second round of Pilates Training. This time around, I'm getting the comprehensive certification which is exciting. It's been even scarier than my last certification process, but totally worth it. So hey! If you want a free Pilates class, or know someone who does, send yourself or them my way. :)
Cheers! Happy winter! Unless you live in Seattle, in which case, happy eternal spring! |
